Arctic Sky-diving!
Another adventure only available in the Arctic - Arctic sky-diving is definitely a cold weather sport... It is best done when it is at least -25. It was -29 when we did it!

Getting psyched up to go Sky-diving...
To prepare for this pastime you must;
1) psych yourself up...( see pictures above)
2) wear the heaviest clothes you can get...
3) drive as far out on the ice road as you can...
4) bring all the camera equipment that you can...
5) remember that it only lasts a few moments
- unless you freeze to the ice on landing...

How is Arctic sky-diving done?
Drive to a section of the ice road that is clear of any snow or chain marks and where the ice is mostly clear.
Jump out of the truck, remember to not stand still for very long (see bottom of iceroad page).
Try to stand facing into the wind.
Lean forward.
Fall to the ice
All parts of the body or clothing that could freeze to the surface must be kept in the air.
Stay in that position until someone climbs on top of the vehicle and snaps a few pictures.
A family that sky-dives together gets frozen together.
In some conditions when the ice is completely clear you can't tell that you are not 3000 feet in the air. We were not able to find ice like that so had to have a little background colour...

What it looks like from on the ice road surface!
It may be silly but it was fun and it probably made you laugh...
